Rich Kelly
Principal
Rich Kelly has more than thirty years experience in real estate finance, accounting and asset management. As a principal of LumaCorp Inc. and affiliates, he is primarily involved with selecting properties for acquisition, structuring financing, placing equity, and structuring the acquiring entity. He is also responsible for asset management of the LumaCorp portfolio, as well as directing the financial and tax reporting. He has placed over $300,000,000 of debt and equity to finance or refinance 44 properties since 1990. Prior to joining LumaCorp in 1989, Mr. Kelly was Executive Vice President of a Dallas based real estate firm in 1987/88. This firm specialized in restructuring and reorganizing distressed properties and partnerships. Here, Mr. Kelly directed the asset management of 125 properties constituting some 16,000 multi-family units and 1,500,000 square feet of commercial space, with a total insured value exceeding $750 million. . From 1983 through 1987, Mr. Kelly placed over $325,000,000 of commercial real estate loans, and brokered more than $250,000,000 of real estate. As Chief Financial Officer, he was responsible for preparation of projections and development plans, tax and financial planning, reporting, document review, transaction structure and negotiation. From 1981 through 1982, Mr. Kelly was the Chief Financial Officer for a Honolulu based syndicator and developer. This firm was General Partner in approximately 35 partnerships owning some 40 multi-family properties, with over 6,000 units and $250,000,000 of properties under management. He also assisted in the planning and projections for a $250,000,000 mixed-use development in Seattle and financial management of the twenty-unit Burger King franchise in Hawaii. Mr. Kelly graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a BS in Accounting. He received his MBA in finance from George Washington University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and received the Virginia gold medal and national honorable mention for scores attained in passing the May, 1974 CPA exam. He has been a licensed real estate broker in Texas since 1984. He is an involved member of the community, primarily in affordable housing issues. Mr. Kelly has been a volunteer for the Dallas affiliate of Habitat for Humanity since 1994, and is currently President of the Board of their CHDO affiliate. He was a member of the Board of Directors during 1995-1997, and twice received Volunteer of the Year as well as Lifetime Achievement Awards. He served on the Board of TR Hoover Community Development Corporation, a South Dallas CHDO, from 1998-2001. He is also heavily involved in his church, currently serving on the Diocesan Pastoral Council for the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, and having been a member of the Finance Council of Christ the King Catholic Church from 1995-1998.
