Jim Mattingly

Jim Mattingly founded LumaCorp Inc. in 1984, after nine years in the real estate business in Colorado and Texas. His experience encompasses every aspect of the apartment industry, as he "worked his way up" through maintenance, leasing, on-site management, marketing, finance, new construction, renovation, and brokerage. As president of LumaCorp, Mr. Mattingly has provided property management services to 95 different properties comprising over 14,553 apartments. In addition, Mr. Mattingly has been a key principal in the formation of 50 separate investment partnerships, formed for the purpose of owning apartment communities throughout Texas. Mr. Mattingly received a BS degree in Business Economics and Public Policy from Indiana University, Kelly School of Business. He has been a licensed Real Estate Broker in Texas since 1978 and is a member of the MetroTex Association of Realtors. Mr. Mattingly received the IREM Dallas Chapter's Presidents Award (1988) for outstanding contributions to the field of property management. In 1993, he successfully completed the National Center for Housing Management's Certified Occupancy Specialist program. Mr. Mattingly has been actively involved in numerous business and community organizations. Mr. Mattingly served as a delegate to the National Apartment Association, 1994 – 2009, where he last served on the Budget & Finance committee. He is a past member of the board of the Texas Apartment Association (TAA), 1994 – 2009, where he served as the Chairman of the Affordable Housing Task Force from 1997-99 and as chair of TAA’s Legislative committee 2003-05. Mr. Mattingly last served on the Executive Committee as a Vice President At Large. He is a former board member and Past President of the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas where he recently served as chair of the Ethics and Bylaws committee. He chaired the association’s Legislative committee from 1996-99. In 1999 he received the prestigious Presidents award for his contribution to the Association. Mr. Mattingly previously served as a member of the Dallas Camp Fire USA board of trustees. He is a former board member and Past President of the Housing Crisis Center a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of homelessness and received the Volunteer of the Year award in 1996 and the 2000 Margaret Wager award for Enduring Service. Mr. Mattingly was a founding trustee of the Vickery/Meadow Management Corporation, VMMC a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of living in the Vickery/Meadow Improvement District, an area of Dallas, which includes 15,000 apartment units. Mr. Mattingly is a member and Past Captain of Corinthian Fleet # 001 at the Corinthian Sailing Club, White Rock Lake, Dallas, TX. Mr. Mattingly has lived in Dallas, Texas with his with Judy since 1975.
